Deadly Ways to Learn 2 x 30 min (Education Dept. of WA, 2000)

The Deadly Ways to Learn project involved teachers working closely with Indigenous Education Offices to improve literacy outcomes among Aboriginal students. The videos were produced as part of the programme.

Part One - Talking Deadly addresses issues of language, identity and power. It also outlines how Aboriginal English has evolved and why it needs to be valued and used as the foundation for further learning in schools.

Part Two - Deadly Ways to Teach contains classroom footage of two-way bi-dialectal strategies in action. It includes interviews with teachers talking about issues that need to be considered in implementing such an approach in schools.
